On a night that felt more like late September than late August the Jackson Speedway Touring Series invaded the Nobles County Speedway in Worthington for the Worthington Nationals. Winning the night’s 25-lap JSTS Worthington Nationals championship was Scott Winters (Butterfield).

Winters wins wild feature
It took two attempts to get the 25-lap main event underway. As the field was working on putting lap one in the books, a four-car mishap occurred in turn four. Eric Lutz (Sioux Falls, S.D.), Doug Martens (Ward, S.D.), Lee Grosz (Harwood, N.D.) and Jeremiah Jordahl (Madison, S.D.) all got together. Lutz and Jordahl were done for night while Martens and Grosz were able to restart. On the complete restart, Casey Heser (Jackson) lost his left rear tire and come to a stop in turn four. On the next restart, Scott Winters grabbed the early lead as Curt Lund (Redwood Falls) got the second spot and Jody Rosenboom (Rock Rapids, Iowa) took the third spot. The leaders ran is this order until the race’s next caution on lap 13 when Eric Schulz (Sioux Falls, S.D.) hit the wall in turn four. On the restart, Lund attempted to make a pass on Winters to grab the lead, but Winters was able to keep the field behind him. With Winters out front, Lund ran in second and Rosenboom third. The caution flew again on lap 22 when Dave Glennon (Casselton, N.D.) slowed in turns one and two. On the restart, Lund got the lead from Winters and was credited with leading the 23rd lap. However, Winters was able to reclaim the lead on the next lap when the white flag flew. Also, Rosenboom was able to move into the second spot, putting Lund back to third. When the checkered flag flew it was Winters picking up the win, followed Rosenboom, Lund, Grosz and Jesse Drost (Rushmore). Heat race wins went to Lund and Rosenboom.
