Jackson County acts in area variety show

A group of belly dancers with a member who hails from Jackson and the vocal and instrumental talents of Allen and Nancy Jensen from Heron Lake will be part of an evening of family entertainment coming Saturday to the auditorium of the Business, Arts and Recreation Center in Windom.

Jackson’s Kathy Fransen and several others from Fairmont and Blue Earth make up The Naval Academy, which delivers American Tribal Style belly dance performances — a fusion between authentic folk and Egyptian Cabaret styles of belly dancing.

The Jensens will be performing a medley of country, folk and gospel songs.

The “BARC’s Got Talent” fall variety show is bringing together an array of talent from the area for a performance that is set to begin at 7 p.m.

The show will begin with vocalists Mike and Ashley Johnson, who will also serve as emcees for the evening show. The talent lineup also includes vocal soloists Nadine Forman, Mia Hockel and Mark Nass, all from the Windom area.

The vocal group “Good Intentions” will also be featured in the show. Making up the group are Jennifer Fast and Nathan Fast, both of Mt. Lake; Michele and Michael Brenneman of Bingham Lake; and Wendy Besel and Gerald Rowell, both of St. James. Several members of this group are teachers in the Butterfield-Odin School District.

Instrumental soloists will include Michele Larson on the piano and Bob Lindaman on the organ. Larson will also share her talents on the organ, being joined by Dustin Stevens on the piano. The duo of Megan and Amy Muller of Windom will perform on the violin.

Adding even more variety to the show will be the Country Line Dancers from the Windom area and comedian Bill Larson from Windom.

Tickets are priced at $8 for adults and $5 for children 3 to 12 years old. They can be purchased prior to the event at the BARC Office, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and will be available at the door.
