Larry Lewis Dopp was born on June 11, 1940, in Sibley, Iowa, the son of Lewis and Allie (Berends) Dopp. He graduated from Harris High School in 1959. He farmed in the Harris, Iowa, area until 1965, when he moved to Sioux Valley. On Nov. 24, 1967, he was united in marriage to Dolores Greenside at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Worthington. In 1974, they moved to a farm near Ellsworth, and in 1982, they moved to Jackson. He worked for Bill Edlin until 1990, when he was forced into retirement due to health reasons.
Larry was a member of Church of the Good Shepherd in Jackson since 1982. He was a volunteer driver for Western Community Action. He loved the outdoors — pheasant, duck and deer hunting, trapping and fishing. He really enjoyed taking care of his animals, including sheep, horses and dogs, which he still had on the family farm. He enjoyed taking the grandchildren tubing and teaching them how to fish. He loved to cook, making a wonderful Thanksgiving Day stuffing.
Larry is survived by his wife of 42 years, Dolores of Jackson; son, Lon (Jill) Dopp of Cottonwood; daughter, Lisa (Mark) Domyahn of Minneapolis; four grandchildren, Jocelyn, Lauren, Conner and Evonne; sister, RoJean West and her special friend, Martin Hamilton, of St. Charles, Mo.; aunt, Betty Berends; niece, Alison Ruffing; and two nephews, Jason West and Devin Greenside.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents.
Blessed be the memory of Larry Lewis Dopp.
