A funeral service for LaVonne A. “Bonnie” Vollmar of New Prague will take place on Tuesday, June 29, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, New Prague, with Father Kevin Clinton officiating. Interment will be at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery, New Prague. LaVonne died on June 24, at Queen of Peace Hospital in New Prague.

Visitation will be Monday, June 28, from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday, June 29, from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at Bruzek Funeral Home, 610 E. Main St., New Prague.

Grandchildren as casket bearers will be Willy Vollmar, Mary Vollmar, Molly Solberg, Dustin Vollmar, Tobin Vollmar, Emily Benzell, Sarah Benzell, Brianne Vollmar, Kelly Vollmar, Katie Vollmar, Jacob Vollmar and Reid Vollmar.

LaVonne A. “Bonnie” Vollmar was born on Dec. 22, 1920, in Jackson, daughter of Evelyn M. (Eustice) and George D. Benda. She attended Jackson High School and the College of St. Catherine. In 1944, she moved to New Prague to teach English at New Prague High School. She was united in marriage to Warren W. Vollmar on June 20, 1945, in Jackson. Warren died on Oct. 7, 2004.

LaVonne was an ardent reader. She was a book club member, charter member of AAUW, a member of the Ladies’ Guild (Council of Catholic Women) and a Girl Scout leader.

Survivors include daughters, Mary Vollmar of Minneapolis, Paula Vollmar-Heywood (Phil) of Minneapolis, Anne Benzell of Minneapolis and Ellen Vollmar of Burnsville; sons, Warren (Ann) Vollmar of Cook, Peter (Mary Kay) Vollmar of Faribault, Dr. William (Judy) Vollmar of New Prague, John (Rosalie) Vollmar of Eagan, and James (Lori) Vollmar of Scandia; grandchildren, Willy Vollmar, Mary Vollmar, Molly (Shannon) Solberg, Dustin Vollmar, Tobin Vollmar, Emily and (Tim) Betlach, Sarah Benzell, Brianne Vollmar, Kelly Vollmar, Katie Vollmar, Jacob A. Vollmar and Reid Vollmar; great-grandchild, Fisher Solberg; brother, George (Jean) Benda of Alpha; and sisters, Kay (John) Waters of Bloomington and Barbara Gantenbein of Green Bay, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George D. and Evelyn Benda, and husband, Warren.
