Two busted for crack transport
Two residents of Storm Lake, Iowa, are in jail after being arrested for transporting crack cocaine through Jackson County.
Laushun M. Bagsby, 40, and Lashawn R. Hyche-Bradford, 32, are charged with a myriad of drug-related crimes filed Tuesday.
At around 7 a.m. on Saturday, Jackson County Sheriff's Office deputies, acting on a tip from an agent from the Iowa Department of Narcotics Enforcement, stopped a vehicle traveling west on Interstate 90 that was believed to be bringing crack cocaine from the Minneapolis area to Iowa. During the stop, a deputy smelled the strong odor of marijuana leading to a search of the vehicle and the three occupants aided by the Jackson County K-9 Unit. During the search, baggies of crack cocaine were located on Bagsby and Hyche-Bradford and they were arrested and transported to the Jackson County Jail.
Bagsby was charged with one count of aiding and advising a controlled substance crime in the second degree. She is being held in the Jackson County Jail on $100,000 bail.
Hyche-Bradford was charged with one count of aiding and advising a controlled substance crime in the second degree, one count of controlled substance crime in the fifth degree and obstructing arrest. He is being held in the Jackson County Jail on $200,000 bail.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Iowa Lakes Regional Task Force, the Storm Lake Police Department and the Jackson Police Department.
