Fiber funds all set for receipt
The final piece of the paperwork puzzle to accept federal grant funding for a new fiber optic network in Jackson County and beyond, plus more work to set up the system, was completed Tuesday night.
The Southwest Minnesota Broadband Services Board of Directors agreed to open a pledged deposit account with the Lake Elmo Bank and passed a resolution accepting the U.S. Department of Agriculture/Rural Utilities Service grant/loan funds.
“So that’s it, we’re committed,” U-Reka’s John Schultz said to the board.
U-Reka is the consulting firm hired by SMBS to compile the grant application and guide the board through the process of making the network a reality.
