Plant Press Make 'n Take

Summer is filled with profusion of colors in nature. Lucky for us, there is a way we can keep the memories of those colors. You'll learn how to preserve flowers and leves using various pressing methods for different plant types. Participants will make their own wooden plant press and practice using available plant materials to get started. Plus, using pressed flowers already dried, you'll make an art peice to take home for inspiration. All materials provided. Cost: $20 non-members/ $15 PEBC members. The Prairie Ecology Bus Center (PEBC) and the Jackson/Cottonwood County Cattlemen’s Association are proud to present the Fifth Annual “Prairie Steak Fry” on Monday, August 6th in Heron Lake, MN from 5:00 to 8:30 p.m. A full steak dinner grilled by the Cattlemen’s Association, dessert provided by the Jackson County Dairy Association, and dinner help by LaCrosse 4-H Group, will be followed by a short PEBC program. Topping off the evening will be an entertaining presentation featuring award winning humorist and storyteller Al Batt.

Thursday, August 16th, the 30th Annual Minnesota State Corn Cob Open will be held at the Jackson Golf Club, Emerald Valley Golf Course in Lakefield, and Loon Lake Golf Course. Golfing will begin at 6 am and go throughout the day.
There will be a pork burger & sweet corn feed from 10:30 – 3:00 at the Jackson Golf Club & Emerald Valley Golf Course in Lakefield. Cost is $5.
There will be a ribeye dinner served from 6:00 – 8:00 at the Jackson Golf Club, and the cost is $15.
