Firearms Safety Course April, 1 / 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM Community
The MN Department of Natural Resources is sponsoring a Firearms Safety Course at the Jackson National Guard Armory. There is a $10 registration fee. Students must be age 12 by 12/31/14. Anyone born after December 31, 1979 must take this course to obtain a hunting license. We encourage parents to take this course with their sons or daughters. Jackson Brown Bag at Library April, 2 / 12:00 PM Community
The Jackson library debuts its lineup of spring Brown Bag programs next week with a presentation on naturopathic medicine by Ariel (Von Ohlen) Barkeim. During the presentation, which begins at noon in the library meeting room, Barkeim will share her story and what led her to become a doctor of naturopathic medicine. Attendees are invited to bring a lunch to eat.


Free tax clinic April, 3 / 1:00 PM - 8:00 PM Community
Western Community Action is currently taking phone calls and scheduling free appointments to help lower-income taxpayers and families navigate the process of filing their 2013 state and federal income tax return. The actual appointments will be set up for Thursdays at the WCA office in Jackson, beginning Jan. 30 and continuing through the last Thursday before the April 15 tax deadline. Riverside Kindergarten Registration April, 11 / 12:00 AM Community
Riverside Elementary School will host kindergarten registration for students eligible to attend kindergarten next fall throughout the day. A letter will be sent to parents informing them of further details. Parents of an eligible kindergartener who do not receive a letter are encouraged to call the Riverside office at 847-5963. P:arents who attend the kindergarten registration are asked to bring along proof of age.

The Jackson Lions Club 52nd Annual Pancake Fiesta will be held at Minnesota West Community & Technical College. Adults: $6 in advance, $7.00 at door, and Students 12 & under, $5.00. Children 5 and under are free. On the menu is pancakes, French toast, sausage, juice, milk, and coffee.

The Jackson library continues its lineup of spring Brown Bag lunch programs with a presentation by Carter and Tim Olson 'Growing up with Diabetes'. Carter will share his story from his diagnosis to where he is today with controlling his disease. The program begins at noon.
