Betty Mae Johnson, 87Free Access


Betty Mae Johnson, 87, went to be with her husband Tom and her Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 24th, 2022.

Betty was born on December 17th, 1934, in Sioux Falls, SD to Vern and Bernice Stoner. Betty is the oldest of 3 siblings. She has 2 younger brothers, Delbert (Orinne) Stoner and Bob (Jean) Stoner. She graduated from Fairmont High School in 1953. Fairmont High School is also where she met Tom, her Husband. They were married shortly after they graduated from High School and they went on to celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary.

Betty and Tom moved to Jackson in the mid-’60s where she supported Tom in the Culligan business for over 40 years. She also held a few different jobs doing everything from Bookkeeping to being a librarian, all while raising 4 children. She was very active in the First Baptist Church, and the Jackson Golf Club and played cards and games with friends.

Betty was very dedicated to her family. She was a big advocate for large extended family gatherings. She was always planning the next big family reunion. That seemed to be what made Betty the happiest when all her family was together in one place and taking lots of pictures.

Once Betty and Tom retired, they spent their winters at Trophy Gardens in Alamo, TX. There they met more life-long friends. In 2012 they moved from Jackson to Apple Valley, MN where they lived in a senior living apartment complex called the Timbers. Betty continued to live there, independently, after Toms’s Death in 2019 until May of 2022.

Betty was proceeded in death by her Husband Tom Johnson. She is survived by her four children: Rick (Amm) Johnson, Linda (David) Shay, Cheryl (Barry) Jass; Ann (Randy) Jonas. She is also survived by her 2 brothers, Delbert (Orinne) Stoner and Bob (Jean) Stoner. They were blessed with 15 Grandkids, 12 Great Grandkids, a large extended family, and many, many friends.

Betty lived a very long and fulfilling life. She will long be remembered by her family and many great friends.

Celebration of Life will be held on August 3rd at Berean Baptist Church, 309 County Rd 42, Burnsville, MN. Visitation begins at 10 am and the service will begin at 11 am. Lunch to follow at the church. There will be private internment for the family following lunch at Lebanon Cemetery, Apple Valley, MN.
