Donald Duane “Don” Dingman, 90


Donald Duane “Don” Dingman was born on Thursday, August 21, 1930, to George and Lola (Arndt) Dingman. He passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2020, after contacting the Coronavirus at the age of 90.

Don lived on a farm in Petersburg, Minnesota while growing up. In 1950, Don joined the United States Army and served in Korea from 1950 to 1953. On June 1, 1952, he was united in marriage to Carol Teigen at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Jackson, Minnesota. Together they raised four children, David (Dawn), Jann Houge, Joel (Nancy), and Rick (Nicole).

Don farmed north of Jackson for many years, was Veteran Service Officer, District Manager for Investor’s Diversified, and worked at the Jackson Post Office.

Don and Carol moved to Wheatland, Wyoming in the 1980s and lived there their remaining years. Don was very active in his church, Our Savior’s Lutheran in Jackson and Covenant Lutheran in Wheatland, was a very proud member of the VFW and American Legion, and marched in many parades. His passion was golf. He would play golf anytime he could watch golf and read about golf. He and Carol traveled in their 5th wheel to Lake Havasu City, Arizona for many winters and he played golf there until Carol became too sick to travel. Carol passed away on September 18, 2015. He loved to play cards, especially cribbage, Pegs and Jokers, and Thirty-One. Don was a master woodworker and carpenter, making several beautiful things for many people.

Don had a very hearty handshake which was noted by several. He was an honest, loyal, and hardworking man. He had a great smile, an infectious laugh, and a fantastic sense of humor.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol; brother, Dale; brother-in-law, Doug Teigen; son-in-law, Kent Houge; and grandson, Lucas Dingman.

Don leaves behind his four children and their spouses; grandchildren, Joshua Hanson, Adam Dingman, Hollie Hein, Bobbie Brennan, Tessa Harris, Kaleb Dingman, Jacob Dingman, Karsen Dingman, Kaia Dingman, and Tiffani Dingman; 15 great-grandchildren; his brother, Dennis; sisters-in-law, Maxine Dingman and Audrey Teigen; and several nieces and nephews. He is also leaving behind a special friend, Judy Windmeier.

A private ceremony will be held in the spring of 2021.
