The top-ranked Jackson County Central wrestling team swept a trio of matches Tuesday in Grove City, beating Sibley East, Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City and fifth-ranked Holdingford.
The Huskies beat Sibley East 69-6 and ACGC 68-3 their first two duals before ending the night with a 40-24 win over Holdingford in a matchup of two top-five teams.
Kayden Eller started the dual with a pin, but it was tied at six after the Huskies forfeited at 113.
No. 10 Isaac Rodriguez changed the scope of the dual early when he upset second-ranked Wyatt Pilarski at 120 pounds, using a late takedown to win by two.
Holdingford regained the lead with a pin at 126, but the Huskies won four straight matches to take the lead for good. Top-ranked Nolan Ambrose got a pin, No. 4 Thomas Freking won a major decision and Skyler Andrews and No. 2 Logan Butzon followed with decisions. Butzon’s win came against No. 8 William Pilarski.
Holdingford won three of the next four matches to cut the JCC lead to 28-24 with two bouts left. The only JCC win during that stretch was a decision by No. 1 Dylan Withers at 170 pounds.
Once Holdingford got within four, No. 2 Caleb Vancura clinched the victory with a pin at 220 pounds and then No. 7 Cameron Scholten added a pin at 285.
Kyler Thier, Ryan Fricke, Isaiah Rodriguez, Seth Stai and Vancura all got pins against ACGC and Eller, Ambrose and Trey Rossow received forfeits. Isaac Rodriguez and Butzon won technical falls, Braydan Winter won a major decision and Freking and Scholten won decisions.
The Huskies improve to 10-6 on the season with the three wins. They’re back on the mat Thursday when they host Pipestone.
