Letter: Are you kidding me?Free Access

To the editor:

Just when you thought you’ve seen it all, out comes an article on how the county highway department is on the lookout for unsafe mailboxes! Is this all that department has to do? If so, someone needs to better allocate time. If there are any issues with a mailbox, it should be between the postman and the individual. We don’t need the county playing policeman.

If that isn’t bad enough, now we have the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Pheasants Forever determining what an invasive species is and cutting down trees on public land. Who gave them that authority? I know I sure didn’t. How do they know this is not just the natural evolution of nature? Think of all the trees that have been cut down already on public land. It is estimated one tree captures 48 pounds of carbon dioxide per year.

But no; we are going to cut down trees while, at the same time, let private corporations, some with global ties, use tactics to acquire thousands of miles of private land to pipe CO2 just to bury it in the ground. All of this just so they can receive millions of taxpayer dollars for doing so.

As I see it, the real invasive species has two feet, not roots.
