Local DAV chapter helps get vet back on the roadFree Access

The local chapter of Disabled American Veterans recently helped an amputee veteran get back on the road.

Mike Daisy, an amputee veteran from Martin County, needed a new transmission for his van, his only mode of transportation to get to and from doctor visits. The local DAV Chapter 32 teamed with the American Legion Post 36 and Post 529 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1222 to purchase a new transmission and installation from Feely Transmission and Auto Repair of Welcome.

Mike Chepa of Lakefield, commander of DAV Chapter 32, said Mike Feely of Feely Transmission, who comes from a military family himself, went out of his way to find a transmission and get Daisy back on the road.
